Frequently asked questions

Which times tables should my child know?

In England, children learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2, add the 3, 4 and 8 in Year 3 and know all of them up to 12 × 12 by the end of Year 4. In the US, children should know all the facts up to 10 × 10 by the end of 3rd grade, and many schools add the 11 and 12 times tables in 4th grade.

What if my child is ahead or behind?

Pick the year that matches what they're learning rather than their age. If a test is too hard, try the year before or practise one table at a time on its own page.

How is the test marked?

Each answer is green if it's right, amber if it's right but took more than 5 seconds, and red if it's wrong. The report can be printed or downloaded.
